Spikey Tee (Saturday 16 June)
Spikey Tee is one of London’s original “rude boys”. Over the almost 20 years that Spikey Tee has been working in the music industry he has progressed from being a warehouse DJ in London, to band member of the avant-garde The Sindecut, to lead vocalist in Jah Wobble’s Invaders Of The Heart. All the while Spikey has continued to DJ, mixing hip-hop, R&B, ragga, and drum ‘n’ bass.
A sharp MC, Spikey’s list of collaborations reads like a who’s who of the world’s dub stars including Mr Scruff, Morcheeba, Massive Attack and Bomb the Bass, as well as reggae legends such as Dennis Alcapone, Ranking Joe and Horace Andy to name but a notable few.
His DJ-ing, MC-ing and singing skills have taken him around the world to Australia, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Germany, Norway, Russia, Finland and Vietnam among a host of others. Much loved by the CAMA collective, Spikey even spun at one CAMA founder’s wedding in Hoi An. He probably wasn’t expecting to be paid in rugby tackles.
For his ATK debut expect Spikey Tee to be dropping wicked Jamaican inspired soul-style vocals over his trademark mix of hip-hop, R&B, ragga and drum ‘n’ bass.
